abecedarian

A) A "high speed internet provider" that was to have provided DSL to our new abode by May 23 was a no-show. (Designed by Kafka). Nor did they contact us to say as much. My call succeeded in unearthing the information that it will be (at least) another month before they get around to us. Wires and those who wield them suck. Let entremanures fill the sky with stratellites and be done with this nonsense.

B) Belatedly, in wonder at the research and technology: C and D. How does one, sans horbe, synthetically generate reading intonation?

E) Echoic thoughts about genre keep occuring. Genre as, or with, or in, or under, "belief systems." To even say "belief system" is to be writing within a certain genre. Perhaps something of this is on the way to the ballpark of the ballpark of this non-captious list from Ray Davis.

skipping a letter...

G) Goodwillie's platform of Things that Suck:

* Money Sucks – it has devalued people and become the worst addiction which has corrupted our personal goals, institutions, value system and our revered democracy
* Democracy Sucks – it has become a red herring to keep us powerless
* Personal and Family relations suck – has deteriorated into feuds instead
* Religion sucks – divides people rather than bring them together
* Good people suck – have created more calamity than bad people
* Peace sucks – peace does not bring peace

Reading aloud is based on fairly constrained, scripted speech intonation. It isn't that hard to base computerized text-to-speech intonation on cues like punctuation, italics, sentence length, and limited grammatical analysis.

Of course, that's not to say it's exactly easy. :)

Sucking at things really sucks !

Much of the sucking occurs, I think, because those who control the processes that end up with results that suck want us to keep sucking on whatever it is that they say they are going to provide us .. such as more money, or peace or democracy .. and so we suck it all down without examining it for what it really is that *they* are delivering to us sucklings.

I wonder if *we*, as a collective of humans, suck ? Most individual humans I have met of whatever stripe, most affirmatively do no suck, imo, when the suirface is scratched.

I like the Goodwillie Pledge very much. I wish the real democratic party might look to it as a draft for something that people can actually get behind, as they set out to remake murka

thanks dorothea and Brian - I wonder how many people, hearing their words do this, have sensed a bit of the uncanny. A Hoffmanesque turn of the weird.

jon, the platform is a breath of fresh air, an antidote to corporatistic mediatic pleurisy, edema and hypocrisy. An emetic for our Time and what ails it. Not that Fox needs to balance colossal vomitousness with dry heaves. Instead, what's needed is to vomit Fox et al with gusto.
