Uncanny how Colbert seems at times to be possessed by the delivery and manner of GHW Bush.
yet the press, in contrapuntal opposition to the blogosphere, seem to have adopted the code of omertaThey must know they're in cahoots, and that now everyone else knows. How else to explain the silence ?

jon: the press is silent in part because it has no answer to the argument that it is ideologically compromised. That possibility is not allowed by the religion practiced by the caste. It's outside discourse. Which is why Colbert's performance was an event. It performed the dis-ease of the press, louder than all its silence.
