In the latest news cycle, Bush began with some "recognitions" of the difficulties of the war. A feint of reality-based awareness. That bought him some time, some patience. Now he's blown by that, offering as his version of a rationale, a plan, nothing more than "I believe."

For this administration, reality is a stage prop to leap from. Into the absolutism of this I.

a universal thought not shared by all unless they're democracies or what I guess he means is the ones who have to put up with those unelected tyrants and dictators and totalitarianists who don;t have the universal thought but they're rare so it really is universal mostly
He's like the kid keeping the elephants away.
"Why are you whistling that song all the time?"
"Because it keeps the elephants away."
"But there are no elephants around here."
"That's right!"
Stretched out toward the next generation where the invisible can justify everything. So that the elephants don't come tomorrow.

Where was he the day before yesterday, when the elephants weren't here either, but he kept flushing human beings down the toilet until everyone agreed that it would be bad to have elephants?
