I believe that relatively few people have had the moral courage to get into discussing "root causes" of terrorism. I think by and large that term has become branded as "here come the liberals, and they don't uunderstand reality".
The world is a complex place. Terrorism is too, and infortunately does have some (IMO) direct relations to the massive socio-economic and politcal power imbalances that exist (and arguably have been created / exacerbated over the last "x" years (I say "x" because one could pick any one of "n" starting points in history .. but it might be useful to limit it to the last 50 years ... as an aside, when was the CIA created ?)
Ignoring the complexity, or seeking to simplify it through inane slogans only ensures that the complexity and any real threats will only grow.
